Easy speed run

easy speed run 00It was one of those windsless days in the midlle of July. Summer heat on the peak, and not even a mistral to chill the air and bring joy in the hearts of expecting windsurfers.

It is said that sometimes you have to do something out of the blue, something that you did't plan. Well, I did plan to dance with the wind, as much as possible, during summer. But, the music was not here - it was somwhere else. So, out of the blue, I decided to go. On the way. To the land where summer winds never stops. Greece. Island of Karpathos - the only sure destination during summer, if you want to dance, dance, dance and never to stop.

I had some obstacles, like spider bites and nearly broken ribs. But, hey, who cares - today is the only day we have and I just want to live it fully.

Karpathos did greet me with usual 25+ knots of the wind. Tirquise blue waters of Devil's Bay was white with cups, and white with sails. Enough for me. Nothing to say anymore, but everything to sail!

It just happend that during my stay there was a GPS speed event "The King of the Paradise 2010", organized by a Sweedish speedsailor Anders Björkqvist. I joined, since I was already there, although I don't care much about competitions. However, guys from Sweeden were very kind and some of them were exceptionaly good at speed, so I learned a lot from them. They are those big guys in yelow licras on photos and on video (I also had one) - so that everyone who sees them on the water, can quickly save his head and get out of their way!)

Photos and videos were recorded with small ContourHD HeadCam, and it happend that I was recently again enchanted by the music of Kristi Stassinopoulou, I used the song with so appropriate title - "Strong winds blockade" - as a background. Enjoy!

Moments of Eternity

Everybody's talking at me
I don't hear a word they're saying
Only the echoes of my mind

People stopping staring
I can't see their faces
Only the shadows of their eyes

I'm going where the sun keeps shining
Thru' the pouring rain
Going where the weather suits my clothes
Banking off of the North East wind
Sailing on a summer breeze
And skipping over the ocean like a stone

Everybody's Talkin' (Harry Nilsson)
